In a series of films celebrating the creative genius of the Beat Generation, Bellamy Road will screen films three consecutive Saturday evenings in the month of May. On the opening night May 3, 2008 Andrew Gordon will deliver a talk on the literary giants of the movement before screening Pull My Daisy. An experimental film (28 minutes) by Robert Frank and narrated by Jack Kerouac, it was produced in 1958 and has since become the iconic film of the Beat Generation. Hors d’ oeuvres and beverages will be served and seating is limited (60) for the 7 p.m. start time. The event is free, so reservations are encouraged.

The following Saturday, May 10, John Antonelli’s 1985 award-winning biography, Jack Kerouac (King of the Beats), will be shown (78 minutes) at 7 p.m.

 Next up on the 17^th is The Life and Times of Allen Ginsberg, a film by Jerry Aronson (84 minutes) produced in 2005.

Closing the series (and our season finale), Bellamy Road will host an invitation-only, Beat costume, dance party with Dino Lorenzo’s jazz quartet, readings of Beat poems, and a short slide show of Beat sites in San Francisco and Denver by Keith Bollum and David T. Warner.  Throughout the series our walls will be adorned by artworks of abstract expressionist painter Ruth Harley, on loan to Bellamy Road. Also showing are drawings by Lawrence Ferlinghetti from a local private collection.

Bellamy Road (The David Turner Warner Foundation, Inc.) was incorporated in 2008 as a 501 (c) (3) private operating foundation. It will support the work of creative artists in the visual arts, literature, film, music and other performing arts. It will provide financial aid to emerging and established artists, and will provide opportunities to create and display diverse artistic, cultural and spiritual expressions.
