Melrose Bay Gallery and Bellamy Road staged a plein air event the week of March 19, 2007. Our first annual “Melrose Paint the Town” hosted 40 artists and photographers, who throughout the week captured the charm and beauty of the Melrose Historic District. The culmination was the following weekend with a Friday night invitation-only reception for the artists and patrons. Open houses at both galleries on Saturday (March 24) provided the public an opportunity to purchase artworks created during the week - by silent auction or outright purchase through Sunday.
During the week the public was invited to roam around town to watch the artists at work, where some will have previously created artworks for sale. Most participants were highly esteemed local artists from North Central Florida and others came from as far as St. Augustine, Ormond Beach and Sarasota. Select artworks of some of the artists were displayed at Bellamy Road through April 23.
